I read this really wild science article this morning...

The article is found here.  I followed a lot of it, but I'm pretty sure I don't fully understand the whole debate.  Can someone explain it to me?  It all reminds me of a book I recommend to my theology students, a book which my Dad first introduced to me years ago -- Flatland.
